Essential Tips to Promote a Healing State.  

I have known that stress inhibits healing since early in my journey, but as we all know, eliminating stress is easier said than done. That is why the second step of my healing strategy is emotional energy healing and one of the reasons is to reduce stress to promote a healing state.

It wasn’t until after doing years of inner work, did I realize that I had been living in a constant state of stress for my whole life. When you have always been living in stress, it’s hard to see because it’s all you’ve known.

Stress Inhibits Healing

Anyone experiencing chronic illness knows that illness adds new levels of stress to your life. Then when we add job and relationship challenges affected by illness, staying in a healing state can be difficult.

 I started following Dr. Bruce Lipton many years ago. In the Biology of Belief, he has an entire chapter of an organism’s growth and protection functions. The protection mode is triggered when we feel stressed or have a traumatic event, both can create a fight, flight and freeze response. When we are stressed in protection we are not in growth.

So, a cell or a human cannot be stressed and heal itself at the same time. If you are in a state of continual stress then not only are your cells not healing, but they aren’t maintaining themselves, eliminating waste, or duplicating. The cells, the tissue, and ultimately your body does not have the vitality it needs, it becomes weak, and disease thrives.

I do many things to minimize my stress level to promote a healing state. The first thing that I do is to maintain a positive mindset by working in a masters class, I also focus on what is going well and I am constantly learning and experimenting on different types of healing.

I also do emotional energy healing, meditation, and use healing tools.

Meditation and Stillness 

 One way to get out of stress is to go into stillness or other meditative states. This take your focus into your body or into your breathing and out of your mind with all the busy thoughts.  

It takes practice to stay focused, so just go back in when you catch yourself in your thoughts. It also helps to feel love and joy. Once you get experienced, you can be in stillness while doing other things.

In the book Sensitivity Is Your Superpower, Dr. Karen Kan shares stillness puts you in auto-healing mode and suggested doing it for 10% of your waking hours.

 “In my experience, a profound auto-healing state of being is produced when 9-10 percent of your waking time is connected to Stillness.”1

I have been doing different emotional work, clearing, releasing, and meditation to promote a healing state for many years. This work has been transformative. I am not the same person; I am happier and feel more peace and love than ever before.

Emotional Energy Healing

Another way to get out of stress is to learn an emotional energy healing technique which is very important because practicing one can heal triggers to sources of stress, trapped negative emotions, and trauma to promote a healing state. Many techniques are simple to use, and you can learn from a book or audio program. They include, but are not limited to Release Technique, Healing Codes, Quantum Energy Transformation, or EFT aka Tapping.

Healing Tools

There are healing tools that help reduce stress.  I have used many different tools over the years to promote a healing state. Right now, I am using the AO Scan, Lifewave Patches and the iTeraCare.

AO Scan

The AO Scan has many functions and two of them help me with stress and emotions. The Inner Voice provides music with healing frequencies to clear emotional imbalances and the SEFI (Subtle Energy Frequency Imprinter) has thousands of healing frequencies that can be broadcast or imprinted. Some of the frequencies that I use to promote a healing state are inner peace, love, health, strength and recovery and there are many other helpful frequencies. Lifewave patches


I have been using Lifewave patches for over two years and there are some patches that I believe help with stress to promote a healing state. I started with the Y-Age Aeon patch which is clinically proven to reduce stress in the body and promote relaxation. It also decreases inflammation and increases antioxidant production in the body.

I also use the X39 patch that activates stem cells, increases energy, and promotes better sleep. I and others believe it also improves mood.

My Healing Story

I have been on a healing journey for 20 years, experiencing muscle weakness due to a nervous system illness.  Even after being diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) aka Lou Gehrig’s disease, I knew that I would find a way to heal. Over the years, I used many different techniques and learned something from each one.  However, there was no one thing that healed all the issues.  So, I created my own healing practice for healing that works for me. Through a combination of energy healing, dietary, environmental, and mindset changes, I stopped the progression of the illness many years ago.  To assist other people, I want to share what I’ve learned so that you can create a practice that works for you.

Energy Healing Strategy

My healing strategy is based on the idea that our bodies know how to heal and it’s our job is to support it.  There are many ways to support our healing, we should have a positive mindset; we should remove obstacles to healing like stress, limiting beliefs, and toxins; and increase energy both internally and externally.

Step 2 – Emotional Energy Healing

For me, the second step of my self-healing, emotional energy healing, has been very transformational.  I am not the person that I was before.  I was so unaware of what I was experiencing in my life.  Due to insecurities and self-worth issues, I did everything that I could to not feel, like to distract and numb myself.  I was in a constant state of stress for decades.  I was heading for an illness or health issue of some kind. 

When I say emotional energy healing, I mean a method that clears or releases trauma and stress triggers. When you do that you can remain in a healing state more.  Some of the methods of emotional energy healing are Healing Codes, Emotion Code, Quantum Energy Transformation™, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), The Wonder Method, etc… Many techniques are simple to use and you can learn them from a book, audio program or you can hire a practitioner. 

Keep a journal of issues to clear or release, including but not limited to issues and people that cause you stress; past trauma; limiting beliefs to what is possible; limiting beliefs to loving yourself unconditionally. 

Due to the inner-work, I learned self-care, emotionally and physically. Now when I feel something, I feel it, acknowledge it, love it and allow it to leave.  I have spent years doing the inner work clearing trapped emotions.  I feel better about myself than I ever have.

I learned that I am lovable, I am worthy, and I deserve good things.  I don’t need anyone to give me love and approval, I can give it to myself any time that I choose.

Step 3 – Detoxify Chemicals and Heavy Metals

The third step of my self-healing is to detoxify chemicals and heavy metals, it’s important to change the diet to organic foods, use natural personal care and household cleaning products.  Also, you can eliminate toxins from the body consider using an infrared sauna and supplements.

I try to eat organic and non-GMO and use all-natural personal care and cleaning products.  People have healed using a raw food diet and Paleo, which so different that I don’t think that a particular diet is the answer.  You might want to work with a natural doctor or nutritionist to help with diet and supplements.

I use lots of vibes up.com and earthing products to protect me from EMF and cell phone radiation.

I am sure that most of you are familiar with Dr. Bruce Lipton and his book The Biology of Belief.  I discovered him early in my healing journey and this quote became the cornerstone of my healing strategy.  

“It is also important to note to fully experience your vitality it takes more than just getting rid of life’s stressors.  In a growth-protection continuum, eliminating the stressors only puts you at the neutral point in the range.  To fully thrive, we must not only eliminate the stressors but also actively seek joyful, loving, fulfilling lives that stimulates growth processes.” 1

Step 1 – Achieve and Maintain a Positive Mindset

The first step of my self-healing is to achieve and maintain a positive mindset.  This step is to know that it is possible to heal, never give up and keep exploring.  Search for and connect with people who have or are healing.  Read books, watch videos, join groups and follow people who have healed, who inspire, or motivate you.  What did these people do?  How did they do it?

After being given a diagnosis of ALS (aka Lou Gehrig’s disease), which for many is terminal, instead of worrying about what might happen, I continued living as if I wasn’t going to die… 

Even while doctors were trying to figure out what was wrong, I was working with an incredibly supportive group of alternative and energy healing practitioners.    Meanwhile, I kept trying treatment, supplements, and energy healing, I kept the ones that helped, discarded the ones that didn’t, and continued to try new ones.  I NEVER GAVE UP.

Also, to the extent possible, limit the amount of time you spend with negative people.  Unfortunately, we can’t avoid all the negative people and messages. But we can learn to limit the impact they have on us and our attitude.  So, when someone says a discouraging fact or belief, replace it with an encouraging belief from someone who is healing. Do not engage with them. Choose to FOCUS on the positive messages, not on the naysayers and negative ones.  I generally ignore people who have a limited view of what’s possible.  For more on mindset, see How to Cultivate a Healing. Focus and Visualization

It doesn’t matter what you want, health, abundance or love, choose it and powerfully focus on it.  When you look at yourself as whole and perfect, things may change to reflect what you focus on.  Spend more time every day seeing yourself doing the things that bring you joy and feel the joy and freedom, as if you are doing them.

“That is what was meant by when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Through your focus. Play with this. If you want to create more love, if you want to create more abundance, if you want to create more inspiration—it doesn’t matter what it is—choose it and focus on it, powerfully focus.”2

Knowing that healing is possible is critical to healing.  That doesn’t mean that everyone who believes it’s possible will heal, but if they don’t it’s less likely that they will.

While I have maintained mental acuity and sharpness, I also notice increased cognitive agility.

The Steps to Cultivating a Healing Mindset: Steps 1 and 2

In order to heal, you must have a Healing Mindset, you must Know you can Heal, Be Positive, Take Action, Accept and Trust.  We all know that we should focus on the positive things, but that isn’t always easy when you have financial, physical or emotional issues…

The steps to cultivating a Healing Mindset are to know that it is possible to heal, focus on the positive things, do everything you are able to do to support healing, be present and trust that even though you may not see it, You Are Healing…   How to Cultivate a Healing Mindset 

 Step 1: Know That It Is Possible To Heal

The first step to having a Healing Mindset is to know that it is possible to heal, that doesn’t mean to think or hope that it’s possible.  You don’t need to know how, just know that it is possible, be curious and open minded.

You also need to take control of your own healing, certainly listen to your doctor or healing practitioners but also be open to new ideas.

Our bodies know how to heal, but they may not be able to begin the process due to stress, toxins and lack of resources.  It is up to us to release trapped negative emotions and stress triggers, eliminate toxins and increase the healing energy available.

“The latest science reveals that we are not victims of unchangeable genes, nor should we buy into a scary prognosis. The fact is we have more control over our health and life than we have been taught to believe. This film (Heal) will empower you with a new understanding of the miraculous nature of the human body and the extraordinary healer within us all.”1

Search for and connect with people who have or are healing.  Read books, watch videos, join groups and follow people who have healed, who inspire or motivate you.

Step 2: Focus On The Positive Things

The second step to having a Healing Mindset is to focus on the positive things.

We all know that we should focus on the positive things, but that isn’t always easy when you have financial, physical or emotional issues.

To the extent possible, limit the amount of time you spend with negative people.  Unfortunately, we can’t avoid all the negative people and messages, but we can learn to limit the impact they have on us and our attitude.  Choose to FOCUS on the positive messages not on the naysayers and negative ones.

Certainly, doing emotional energy healing on the issues that bother you helps heal negative thoughts and emotions and I do that, but there are other ways like changing your focus and meditation.  Emotional energy healing is a significant aspect of my healing strategy, I have written and plan to write more on this issue.  See My Healing Strategy and Resources pages of my website.

I was in a program with a healer named Mas Sajady and he has us focus on one second at a time and remembering that in that second you have everything you need and in that second you are complete.  No matter what is happening in your life, in a single second you can feel complete.

The more you focus on being complete and feeling it, the better chance you have at bringing that completeness into your reality.  I am finding this very helpful.

Another way to release negative emotions I learned from Release Technique.  When negative emotions come up they’re coming up because they are ready to leave.  When you notice them, welcome them and release them by allowing them to leave.  Be gentle and loving, don’t try to force or fight with them.  Remember what you resist will persist.

Continue to welcome any negative emotions, allow them to leave and give them and you lots of love until you feel peaceful and light. 2 To learn more about Release Technique, click here.

When i get discouraged, i look for the lessons and the kindness around me.  I continue doing whatever I can to support my healing and stay in love and peace.

8 Ways to Maintain a Positive Attitude, No Matter What…

We have all heard that having a positive mental attitude is important for physical healing, emotional healing and achieving success.  When we are experiencing challenges, it can be harder to maintain a positive attitude.

in 2002, I was given a diagnosis of a debilitating illness and instead of worrying about what might happen, I continued living as if I wasn’t going to die…

Even while doctors were trying to figure out what was wrong, I was working with an incredibly supportive group of alternative and energy healing practitioners.    I intentionally surrounded myself with positive supportive people, I read books, listened to teleseminars and took programs to inspire and educate me on healing and the importance of positive mental attitude.

In the 15 years following the devastating diagnosis, I experienced increasing physical limitation, got a divorce, moved 6 times, had to leave my job and lost my home.  So, I had to learn many ways to maintain a positive attitude and reduce stress.

8 Ways to Maintain a Positive Attitude

ONE                      STAY INSPIRED

Search for and connect with people who have healed, are healing, inspire and motivate you.  Read books, watch videos, join groups and follow people who inspire and motivate you.

What did these people who succeeded do?  How did they do it?

A few times a day or when you need a boost, read or listen to inspiring messages.

TWO                     PRACTICE GIVING LOVE AND APPROVAL

We are always connected to love and we don’t have to wait for someone to give us love and approval. We also need to let go of disapproving of ourselves and beating ourselves up.  We need to learn how to give ourselves love and approval, this was life changing for me.   I learned these things primarily from Release Technique.

So, when you catch yourself disapproving or being critical of yourself or your body, stop and give yourself LOVE and APPROVAL.

“You are neither too much nor too little.   You are perfect just as you are, dear ones.  You don’t have to prove anything to anyone anywhere…  You are perfect as you are, right here and right now. THREE                  MEDITATION OR PRAY

In addition to boosting our mood, meditation and prayer reduces stress, increases energy flow and energetic frequency.  Quantum Touch also has the same benefits and you can also use it for healing.

One easy way is to think of something you love and turn up the intensity of the feeling of love and visualize placing the feeling in your heart.  Now, focus on your breath and if thoughts appear, allow them to leave and return to your breath.

Another way is to connect to source energy, the universe or God and use focused breath as above.  Set intention to deepen connection with source energy or as I learned from Mas Sajady ask “How do I connect to source energy even stronger?”

As you practice, your connection and the benefits will increase.

FOUR                    BE PRESENT

The majority of stress comes from regret or judgment of the past or Worry and Fear of the Future.  Ask yourself, “In this moment am I safe?”, most of the time the answer is YES.  If something is upsetting in this moment use another method, try not to hold negative energy for things you can’t change or control.

“Always say ‘yes’ to the present moment… Surrender to what is. Say ‘yes’ to life – and see how life starts suddenly to start working for you rather than against you.” Eckhart Tolle

FIVE                      ESSENTIAL OILS OR LIFEWAVE

There are many Essential Oils that boost the mood and reduce stress.  Essential Oils are made from plants; therefore, the oils are highly concentrated and contain the healing properties of the plants. They are also very high frequency.

SEVEN                  VISUALIZE AND FEEL

Think about what makes you happy or something that you want to achieve.  Visualize it and FEEL what you will feel if or when you achieve it.  Sit there for a few minutes and really feel all the feelings and sensations as if you had it now.

EIGHT                   EMOTIONAL ENERGY HEALING

Learn an emotional energy healing technique.  Practicing an energy healing technique will heal triggers to sources of stress, trapped negative emotions and trauma.   This helps maintain a positive attitude more easily.

It also allows our bodies to stay in the growth process so we can either heal or prevent illness.  There are many methods that release or clear stress and trauma trapped in your body, like Healing Code, EFT aka Tapping, Release Technique.

Stress and Healing, What I Wish I Knew…

When we learn how to release the stress and trauma affecting our bodies, we allow our bodies to return to the growth process so we can either heal or prevent illness. 

When I was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) aka Lou Gehrig’s disease in 2002, I was already working with alternative and energy healing practitioners, but I didn’t know about emotional healing like EFT aka Tapping, Healing Codes, Release Technique, etc…  I also did not know how to handle my emotions and feelings or how harmful stress is and that I was creating it.

I started working with energy healers and doing emotional energy healing myself.  I used many different techniques and I learned something from each one, but there was no one thing that healed all the issues.  So, I created my own practice for healing that works for me.

The most important component of any healing strategy or practice is healing trapped emotions, stress triggers and trauma.  Many energy healing techniques work because they release or heal trapped emotions, stress or a traumatic event and then the body heals itself.  I believe there are other causes besides stress and trauma, but right now I want to discuss only those two.

The first time I heard that over 75% – 90% of all illness and disease was caused by stress was from The Healing Code book written by Dr. Alex Loyd and Dr. Ben Johnson. 1  In this book, Dr. Loyd discussed the work of Dr. Bruce Lipton and Dr. Lipton’s book The Biology of Belief.

In the Biology of Belief, Dr. Lipton has an entire chapter of the growth and protection functions of an organism.  The growth function not only refers to growing from children to adult, but also in the repair and maintenance of our bodies.  The protection mode is triggered when we feel stressed or have a traumatic event, both can create a fight or flight response.  He explains the interaction between the two as follows:

“… humans unavoidably restrict their growth behaviors when they shift into a protection mode.  If you’re running from a mountain lion, it’s not a good idea to expend energy on growth.  In order to survive—that is, escape the lion—you summon all your energy for your fight or flight response.“

“Inhibiting growth process is also debilitating in that growth is a process that not only expends energy but is also required to produce energy.  Consequently, a sustained protection response inhibits the creation of life-sustaining energy.” 2

So, a cell or a human cannot be stressed and healing itself at the same time.  If you are in a state of continual stress then not only are your cells not healing, but they aren’t maintaining themselves, eliminating waste or duplicating.  The cells, the tissue and ultimately your body does not have the vitality it needs, it becomes weak and disease thrives.

Obviously, most of us aren’t encountering mountain lions in our lives, but Dr. Lipton explains that emotional stress creates the same biological response in our bodies.  The difference is that this emotional stress is continuous.

“We are constantly besieged by multitudes of unresolvable worries about our lives, our jobs and war-torn global community.  Such worries do not threaten our immediate survival, but they nevertheless can activate the HPA axis, resulting in chronically elevated stress hormones.” 2

“Almost every major illness that people acquire has been linked to chronic stress. (Sergerstrom and Miller 2004; Kopp and Rethelyi 2004; McEwen and Lasky 2002; McEwen and Seeman 1999)  Between 75 and 90 percent of primary-care physician visit have stress as a major contributing factor.  (Atkinson 2000) 2

 

 

 

 

I know that stress and several traumatic events either caused or greatly contributed to the physical condition of my body.  In the years following my diagnosis, because of the increase in physical limitations, personal problems and resulting stress, I developed other types of illnesses.  As the stress increased so did the severity of the symptoms and number of other ailments.  It wasn’t until I started emotional energy healing and healing of the stress triggers did things start to turn around and my body began to heal. By then, I had added layers upon layers of stress and ailments so it took time.  I am sure that if I started emotional healing when I was diagnosed, then I wouldn’t have gotten as weak as I did.

New Year’s Tips for Living – 5 Things to Do Every Day to Regain or Maintain Health and Wellness

I have spent many years searching for ways to heal my body and I came up with 5 things that I do every day that are helping me heal in every way possible.

One             Believe that Any Thing is Possible

Find things that inspire you, give you hope and teach you how to change your life.  I would have given up on life years ago, but I found books audios, courses and teleseminars that inspired and taught me how to heal my body and soul.

I have listened to many speakers, but my favorites and the ones I listen to and whose products I use are Dr. Sue Morter and Joshua Bloom.

Two            Love Yourself and Feel Love

One of the most important skills that I have learned is to feel truly loved without looking for someone else to do it.   Imagine what it would feel like to be loved or feel the love you feel for someone or something and give it to you and your body.  Do it completely and OFTEN.

Increasing Vitality and Healing through Love…

In my opinion, relieving stress and learning to feel loved are critical steps in healing and should be a part of every healing strategy. Many look for joy, happiness and love out there somewhere, but it starts within you.  You need to be able to love yourself even when your body is not yet healed, have no money or are alone, that’s the true test.

An important step in any healing strategy is increasing your vitality.  Our bodies are designed to heal, but they often are not able to because they lack vitality.  Vitality comes in many ways such as being in nature, eating nutritious foods, taking supplements and energy healing.  There is another way to increase vitality, one that is often overlooked, it is loving and feeling loved.

Love, Medicine and Miracles

In his book Love, Medicine and Miracles, Dr. Bernie Siegel explains the impact of love of the immune system and healing.

“I feel that all disease is ultimately related to a lack of love, or to love that is only conditional, for the exhaustion and depression of the immune system thus created leads to physical vulnerability.”1

“I am convinced that unconditional love is the most powerful known stimulant of the immune system.  If I told patients to raise their blood levels of globulins or killer T cells, no one would know how.  But if I can teach them to love themselves and others fully, the same changes happen automatically.  The truth is: love heals.”1

It has taken many years, but the most important thing I have learned on my ALS healing journey, is how to love myself.  In the Release Technique we learn that Love is inside of us, we have the power to feel and be loved any time we want.  Release Technique is very focused on Love, click here to learn more.

Biology of Belief

If you study energy healing you will see and hear people talking about The Biology of Belief by Dr. Bruce Lipton, it is an interesting and enlightening book.  Here he discusses the importance of joy and love.

“It is also important to note to fully experience your vitality it takes more than just getting rid of life’s stressors.  In a growth-protection continuum, eliminating the stressors only puts you at the neutral point in the range.  To fully thrive, we must not only eliminate the stressors but also actively seek joyful, loving, fulfilling lives that stimulates growth processes.”2

Levels of Consciousness

As I discussed in my (thoughts frequency) post, David R. Hawkins, M.D. mapped the levels on consciousness. “All levels below 200, it is destructive of life in both the individual and society at large; all levels above 200 are constructive expressions of power.”3 Since love has the level of consciousness of 500, it would be very constructive, especially when you consider this is a logarithmic scale.

Healing from ALS: Healing using Holistic Methods

torc-waterfallThe healing strategy that I use to heal from ALS is to heal the blocks to healing, like stress, trauma and beliefs and then to add energy from nutrition, nature and energy healing.  I believe the most important aspect of my strategy, the thing that helped me stop and reverse the progression of the ALS, is healing sources of stress and emotional trauma.  Our bodies know how to heal and repair, but they aren’t able to do so when they are in stress, see Causes of Illness for more on this.  Then you must add the energy and nutrition to help the body repair and re-build itself.  We know that being in nature and eating healthy foods helps the body heal, but you also need to protect yourself from toxins and electricity in your environment to keep your body strong.    I use Earthing, VibesUP and other products to protect and energize myself.  Also, good water is incredibly important, so I only drink structured water.  I am still learning what I should eat and what nutritional supplements to take that would best help my body heal from ALS.

Late in 2013, I met a woman named Patricia (Tish) Tamowski, who with her husband Alan Scott Douglass, are producing a book and a film about people who have stopped, reversed and are healing from ALS using holistic methods.  I am learning what some of the other people who are healing are doing and I have incorporated a few of them into my strategy and am very pleased with my continued progress.

I am very excited about the book and the film.  I think about how my life would have been different if the information we will share had been available in 2002, when I was diagnosed.  Of course, knowing the techniquesPistyll_Rhaeadrand supplements that are helping people heal from ALS would have been useful, but also just knowing that people are healing would have been a source of inspiration and hope.  Patricia and Scott were just in Southern California, where they interviewed and filmed me and several doctors, who are successfully helping people heal from ALS using holistic methods.  We will be raising money to produce the documentary film called Healing ALS using Indiegogo.com, a crowd funding platform.  We haven’t launched yet, but here is a preview of the campaign.

Tish has been a great source of information since she speaks with all the people who will be in the film and book.  Since all the people use different diets, supplements and other techniques, there isn’t a set list, but there are many different things that are helping us heal.  I am trying new supplements and am currently going towards a Paleo diet.  At this point, I eliminated grain (except some whole rice), I am reducing sugar and dairy.  I just signed up for an online course called Self Care Solutions for Radiant Health by Dr. Robyn Benson, who is a doctor of Chinese Medicine.  I know I will learn much in the course, but I also think it is very important to be part of a group who believe in holistic healing.

torc-waterfall-kerryI do many things to continue to heal from ALS, I spend time in meditation and do Quantum Touch.  I have been trained in Quantum Touch, which is an energy healing technique and I use it to increase the healing energy in my body and to loosen muscle tightness and re-build muscle after more than a decade of atrophy.  I am still using the emotional hearing work of Access Consciousness and Release Technique.  This all may sound like a lot, but much of it has become an easy and joyful part of my life.  I will continue living this way even when my body has been completely rehabilitated.  If there is a hard part, it is the time it takes to learn what you have to learn to turn your life around.  I hope that the book and film give people hope and information about all the powerful holistic tools that can help them heal from ALS.  See tab for My Favorites for the technique and resources that i use.
